Sierra Brooks, Owner / Founder of Bud to Blossom

Hello! I am Sierra Brooks, loving wife and mother of two sweet boys. My calling and passion in life is supporting families as they navigate life with their new babies.

How did I become a postpartum doula/ birth worker?
I first heard of "postpartum doulas" and saw my first birth while I was in college and immediately felt my calling to be a part of the birth world. I began working towards becoming a midwife in my early 20's and was required to take a birth doula training course. This is when I discovered where I belonged in birth! I shifted my focus from midwifery to doula work.

My first official doula job was in January 2000, a postpartum family with a set of twins in Park City, Utah. I went on to work with several other sets of twins that year, and in August attended my first birth as a birth doula! I was electrified and continued to be open to birth and postpartum jobs in addition to working as a nanny. Over the past 20+ years I have attended between one and four births per year and worked with over 100 families postpartum.

In June of 2014 I began to focus all my energy on postpartum work and teaching classes, as I launched Bud to Blossom. I have worked very hard to obtain certifications as a Postpartum Doula (double certified through CAPPA and locally through Midwives College of Utah), Lactation Counselor, HypnoBirthing Practitioner, Lamaze Childbirth Educator, Gentle Sleep Coaching (through Sleep Savvy) and Basic Life Support. I pride myself on acquiring the most up-to-date information on caring for mothers/families after birth, understanding newborn behaviors and communication, how we can best support our babies / mothers / families after birth, baby feeding, caring for newborns and helping women create calm and positive birth experiences.

March 2018 - May 2020, Faculty for CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association - International) as a postpartum doula trainer.

In 2019, due to unforseen life changes, I shifted my focus away from teaching prenatal classes to solely focusing on postpartum doula services and gentle sleep consulting.

I find so much joy in watching parents as they fall deeper in love with each other, discover themselves, and celebrate the little victories of parenthood. It is my total honor to be with families as they get to know their babies and themselves and fall into their new rhythms. I am a guide, a net, an encourager, and a pillar of support; I am the parent's right hand, so to speak. I am a resource and a soundboard. I nurture the new parents so that they can be the best parent they can be

I love people and work hard to get to know others in my community who are also a part of the birth / new baby, new parent world. We network and work together to help families get off to the best start possible with their new babies.

Beyond birth and postpartum work, I love music and nature, spending time with my beautiful family, playing my 12-string guitar and singing my songs, dancing, camping, and traveling. I tend to jump in to life and go full speed. I am present and deeply grateful to be on my path.
